Computing

What are we aiming for?

At High Hesket CE School, we recognise that technology is an integral part of everyday life. Our computing curriculum enables our children to become competent, confident and creative users of IT as well as responsible digital citizens, who are ready to meet the challenges of their digital future. We develop the pupils’ computing skills, knowledge, understanding and capability through taught computing lessons and then, through our curriculum drivers, provide opportunities for pupils to apply and consolidate their learning across all curriculum contexts. In this way, our computing curriculum helps to promote resilience, independence, critical thinking, communication skills and problem solving. We promote the safe use of the internet at the core of our Computing curriculum coverage. Our whole school approach to e-safety helps ensure that we are able to teach children about staying safe when using internet technologies. It also ensures that pupils themselves know how to behave responsibly online.
